Valentine's Day 2012- Frugally Fabulous Fun in February
, ,

Done the same ole' places over and over?  Me? Never! I'm always on the look out for new places to keep the "ooh la la" in life.  The Frugal Socialite has some ideas for the Frugal, the Fantasizer, the Fun Lover and even, for the Folks in a Funk because February 14th is not the day of Love they'd envisioned...

Economic Enjoyable Experiences with Friends—Frugal Socialite Style!

In these technology hyped days, me and my girls talk by Bluetooth, text and email. Planning to see each other in a home setting, where we can take off shoes, vent, laugh loudly and reconnect is a treat.

Second Annual CAPITAL WINE FESTIVAL AT THE FAIRFAX AT EMBASSY ROW

The Frugal Socialite, aka, Lucinda Hughes, had a girl’s night (without our toddlers this time) with La Fonda Sutton Burke, my girl who is always ready to unwind with something “fabulous in a beautiful glass”, after a full day of being a corporate executive.

Mint Julep anyone? A Kentucky Derby soiree came to D.C. on September 19th, with a star packed VIP screening of Disney’s Secretariat movie. After a showing of the movie at AMC Georgetown, complete with free popcorn and soda, plus an introduction from Oscar winning director, Randall Wallace, our group sipped lovely at the exclusive and private Ritz Carlton, nestled in a little nook off 31st street NW.

Beauty and the Beast Sing Along Event October 2nd

The Frugal Socialite is losing her touch. I thought I was in good with Disney reps, but low and behold, I was out of the loop on Disney’s newest event that hit theaters across the nation today.

A lot of my time is spent occupying and entertaining my toddler. My 3 year old leaves school inquiring about our next stop. “Mommy, are we going to the playground, Chuck E. Cheese, Pump It Up or a restaurant?” If none of those get a “yes”, the next question is whether so-and-so – insert name of his handful of playmates -- is coming to play with him.

Lucinda, aka, The Frugal Socialite

The Frugal Socialite has been invited to be Disney’s special guest at “Dinner with Disney” next Thursday, September 16th at Old Ebbitt Grill. Mickey’s bringing some of Disney Parks’ diverse cuisine to D.C!

It’s a private event, for Disney’s Mom Bloggers only, BUT, I’ll bring back goodies for my readers and great opportunities to get up close with Mickey.

Bye-bye July: Free outdoor concerts this weekend

Frugal doesn’t always mean free, but when it is, why fight? Take advantage of the outdoors. Remember January of 2010? Okay, then, get your blanket, some water and get moving to one of these venues for some mellow sounds.

Quick listing. Gotta go, musicians are expecting me,

Lucinda

Parliament without the Diaper Man?

George Clinton & "Parliament/Funkadelic" are missing the Diaper Man. He passed. They have a whole new look. I didn't know it was George without the locks. Performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, a venue they haven't played since 1994. Floor was vibrating from the jumping and the funkiness! Canadians definitely know the P-Funk. Hot, musty, weed smoke, over the top bass, big 'fros, mixed crowd, old hippies with headbands & long hair and floor sticky with beer...felt like the '70s rewound.
